CALIFORNIA - Toyota recalled Camry cars from 2009, Venza from 2009, and some 2011 models to replace the light switch. This recall covers approximately 70,500 Camry and 116,000 Venza.
During the installation of the light switch in the assembly lines of America, the silicone grease may have reached the interior of the switch and thereby caused an increase in electrical resistance. If this occurs, the warning lights on the instrument panel may turn on, with the possibility that the vehicle does not start or that the gearbox does not move from "Parking." In some cases, brake lights may not work.
In addition, some Tacoma pickups from 2005 to 2009 models will be recalled to review to replace the coiled cable of the wheel. Approximately 495,000 vehicles are in this recall.
Due to the spiral cable design for the steering wheel and the unique characteristics of the Tacoma chassis, there can be friction between the cable and the container in the wheel assembly cable in some vehicles. Over time, this can result in a loss of connectivity to the module of the driver airbag. If this connectivity is lost, the warning light of the airbag will remain on after you turn on the vehicle, which can disable the airbag, preventing it from working in case of a collision.
Toyota is in the process of obtaining the necessary parts for replacement. Once they occur, a notification will be sent to owners advising them to make an appointment with a dealer to replace the piece at no cost. The repair will take about 30 minutes.
